TWO BATHROOMS - ONE WALL
Ribamar, Portugal
Technical Design
Area: 9 sqm
The project is for a double bathroom one accessible from the bedroom and one as a service for the guests, and although it might seem a banal program to hire an Architect, I choose to explore the possibilities of the challenge.
Since the very first visit to the house, the idea was clear to me, we were going to do an internal space, with no natural ventilation or natural light source, and I felt straight away a conceptual connection with the hidden chambers of Ancient Egypt.
The two bathrooms are separated/joined by a single wall which niches provide the infrastructure needed, and similarly to what happens inside the pyramids of Egypt, the space is conceived entirely in stone, with no exception even for the toilet itself hidden inside a stone box, lighting, and ventilation are artificially provided and hidden, providing the right atmosphere for a sacred ritual.
